What this site collects

Two things, and nothing else.

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records that a page was viewed, roughly where in the world the visitor was, which site they arrived from, and how they moved through the pages. It sets cookies in the browser to recognise a returning visit. It does not know who you are.

The contact form. If you fill it in, we receive the name, email address and message you typed, and the web address you first arrived on, which tells us which campaign or link brought you here.

Where it goes

Form submissions are sent to Zoho Forms, which is where we read and answer them. They pass through a small function running on Vercel, our hosting provider, which forwards them and keeps short-term server logs.

Analytics data goes to Google. Nothing personal is sent there deliberately: the form's conversion event records that a submission happened, never the name, email or message.

The site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them.

We do not sell anything to anyone, and there is no advertising network on this site.

How long we keep it

Form submissions stay in Zoho for as long as the enquiry is useful to either of us. If you would rather we deleted yours, ask and we will.

The record of where you arrived from is held in your own browser for the length of the visit and disappears when you close the tab. It is only sent anywhere if you submit the form.

Analytics retention follows Google's own setting for the property.

What you can ask for

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted. Email fergus@vectorshift.ca and we will deal with it.

If you would rather not be measured at all, browser-level tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop the analytics script loading. The site works fine without it.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics ones, used to tell a returning visit from a new one. There are no advertising cookies, and nothing here tracks you across other websites.

Blocking them costs you nothing on this site.
