What being local actually changes
Plenty of consultancies will serve the Peninsula from somewhere else. It works, mostly. What it makes awkward is the part that matters: being in the room when the budget is set, the contract is signed, or the decision cannot wait a week for a scheduled call.
Sidney is roughly fifteen minutes from us and downtown Victoria about half an hour. That turns an on-site visit from an expedition into an ordinary Tuesday, which changes what gets done in person rather than over email.
It also means the references are checkable. In a business community this size, the people you would ask about us are people you can actually reach.
The businesses here
The Peninsula's economy grew out of agriculture and small trade and now spans technology, manufacturing, tourism and retail alongside the marine and professional services you would expect on this coast. The Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1912, represents more than 250 of them across Sidney, North Saanich and Central Saanich.
The technology problems turn out to be much the same across all of it. Systems bought at different times for different reasons that do not talk to each other. Quotes assembled by hand because the price book lives in a spreadsheet. Month-end reporting that takes a day because the numbers have to be reconciled first. A server in a cupboard that everyone has agreed to worry about later.
None of that is specific to an industry. It is specific to businesses that grew faster than the systems underneath them, which is most businesses that grew at all.

Which communities do you cover?
Brentwood Bay, Saanichton and the rest of Central Saanich, Sidney, and North Saanich, which is most of what people mean by the Saanich Peninsula. We also work across Greater Victoria and further up Vancouver Island where it makes sense.
Do you come on site?
Yes, and being based in Brentwood Bay is what makes that practical rather than an occasional favour. Sidney is roughly fifteen minutes away and downtown Victoria about half an hour, so being in the room for the meeting where a decision actually gets made is a normal part of the work rather than a billable expedition.
Do we have to be a certain size?
There is no minimum. What matters is whether technology decisions are costing you real money or time, and whether anyone is currently making those decisions as a side effect of another job. That happens at ten staff and at a hundred.
We are a seasonal business. Does that change anything?
It changes the timing more than the work. If your year has a peak, the sequencing is built around it: nothing disruptive lands in your busiest month, and the quiet stretch is when migrations and integrations are worth doing.
Do you only work with tech companies?
No. The Peninsula's business base runs from agriculture and marine through manufacturing, tourism and retail to professional services, and the problems are strikingly similar: systems bought at different times that do not talk to each other, and quoting or reporting done by hand because nobody has had time to fix it.
What if we already have an IT provider?
Most businesses we work with do, and that is usually fine. Support keeps what you have running; the work here is deciding what you should have and holding suppliers to what they promised. If your existing provider is doing that well, we will tell you so.
